GYPSY FAIRS
Earlier on this year I was invited to shadow the ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Weddings’ film crew at two of the Gypsy Horse Fairs (Appleby and Stowe). We quickly realised that shadowing them was not going to work, so I went off on my own. It was quite an experience and after a baptism of fire (of sorts)…Getting a stick thrown at the back of my head whilst photographing a group of kids (one brandishing his knife for the camera)… My fears subsided somewhat, and I was soon approaching groups of teenagers congregating in car parks to meet their potential suiters. Or squeezed amongst dozens of horses that were being washed and ran through the river at Appleby.
